Yesterday I was pall-bearer at a funeral for a family member. The portugies side of my family is very close knit; all my aunts and my mother sang together with their cousins. Each one of them sang their own harmony, while the cousins sang the melody. I don't think anyone is better at ushering someone into heaven then them; whatever they would like to sing is fine with me.

However, if I should suggest some songs:
-Amazing grace. Face it, funerals are for the family, and my family loves this song.
-Someone has to play Pachebel's Canon in D major.
-Land 'o the Leal. Its Irish.

Mwahaha. I'd wanna have funeral represent something about me, and the most important thing to me is music. METAL music. so I'd have these three songs played in no particular order.

SpellBound(By The Devil) by Dimmu Borgir
Spiral Architect - Black Sabbath
Raining Blood - Slayer.

I'd have all my closet friends come, and I'd make it clear that if they were to come, it would be in the clothes they'd normally wear. Then I'd want my guitar slowly lowered into my coffin, which would be set on fire, as these three songs play, and everyone would have to mosh in honor or my death.

To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

i'd like songs that represent my life...

--All Screwed Up by AC/DC... basically, describing myself... :)

--All Apologies by Nirvana.... sorta an apologetic song to those i might've hurt

--The Show Must Go On by Queen... representory of my life by saying 'Yes, I am dead, but your lives go on.'

The three songs I would want to be played would have to be something calm and soothing. If I were to die tomarrow It would be something unexpected. The people to come would be very strucken by this. That is why I would have something like mellow clasical music.I would not want something like the beetles on.(or somethin to that affect)

Remember that threadcromancy festival that happened, like, forever ago? Yeah, I intended to revive this thread way back when, and I've had it saved under my favorites since then.

I'm into classical music, so there won't be any rock bands performing at this one wink.gif

Sleep by Eric Whitacre - Slow, sweet, incredibly appropriate for someone going to final rest. Disonant harmonies bring out just a hint of sorrow, and the end, slowly drifting off into silence, is incredibly satisfying.

Mozart's Laudate Dominum - Beautiful yet melodically simple; a song of praise.

Beethoven's Symphony No.3 Mvt. 1 - Perhaps the most inspiring piece ever penned; my eyes get a bit wet at the piece's climax every time (though this rendition's tempo is a bit too brisk for my taste). Title and dedication: "Heroic symphony, composed to celebrate the memory of a great man." Something we all aspire to.
