Caves of Narshe Forums > Final Fantasy VI > What must be done before the 2nd half of the game

I'm trying to think of things that have to be done before the
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
world of ruin.
I'm playing the GBA version but I don't think that makes too much difference in the first part of the game. I've thought of a few things:

  • I've got all of Mog's Dances you can get so far.
  • Got Zona Seeker and Golem from the auction house (although I think you can still get them later anyway)
  • I've encountered Intangir, Grenade and Stray Cat
  • Think I'm already screwed for getting all of Gau's rages since I'm pretty sure I missed the Dobermans at the Imperial Camp, but I'm not too fussed about that (I'm sure I'll have missed something else anyway)
  • Actually, looking at it now, I seem to have screwed up my Bestiary too as I seem to have missed Chaser...
  • Wait at the end of the floating continent

Is there anything else you can think of that I could miss that I haven't already screwed up?

Cheers.

Cefca, please be aware that many gamers are really far from wanting everything as complete as you want them.

Take me for instance, I'd make sure to get Water Rondo and to encounter Stray Cat. Besides that I'd just wonder if I did anything completely insane like missing Atma Weapon or the Genji Glove (but you can't go back for them can you?)

I actually don't want a lot of Rages because I don't want to scroll through too many to get to Stray Cat.

I never thought about it, but I wonder who else on the site wants everything.

I don't mean to say anything bad about the way you play the game; I just don't want you to get annoyed by the guys like me.

I think you got most of everything. If you want all of the rages, I would just go through and make sure you got everything, because some enemies you mighjt not see again. Then again, I'm not sure if the Soul Shrine changes that. You'll have to ask someone else about that.

Oh hum. Sounds like your doing the same thing I did a few months ago. Trying to get as much done as possible before the enxt part of the game.

Depending how well your characters levels and magic abilities you have got so far you may wanna try fighting monsters on the Continent in the Sky to get some new magic skills. They give the best amount of MP for spell elarning in the first part of the game, and the exp aint so bad either.

Some of the monsters arent really a big deal to get for the rages regardless, just having them all is like filling up the Bestiary. A feeling of completion I spose

Don't forget Seraphim. Although you could get her much cheaper towards the beginning of the second half, the spells she has are worth the 3000 gold

Strago can learn some blue magic at the continent.

At the continent you have - from what I do know - the only chance to get an endless amount of genji gloves, but it takes some time to even get a single one (steal from Dragons).

^ I don't think any of the lores are unique to the floating continent though.

I seem to remember working my butt off for just one.

It's not about getting every last thing in the game for me either (I've screwed up the Rages and Bestiary anyway). Like you, it's just making sure I haven't missed anything big or obvious that would annoy me later on when I realise I can't get them.

Ah, I completely forgot there was a second bonus dungeon! A lot of the enemies do reappear there so maybe I can complete the Bestiary and rages. Thanks for that.

I forgot to say but I'm playing a natural magic only game so I only really need to get magic points to make Terra's Trance last longer. I've been doing this by taking her to the Veldt with me whenever I'm getting Rages for Gau.

Seraph, I'm not too fussed about for the above reason and because I can still get her in the second part so there's no rush there.

This would be a good thing for me to try to do since I'm doing a natural magic game so would help out with my non magic wielding fighters. It might take a while but I can give it a go at least.

Thanks for the help everyone, seems like I've got most of what I can.
