I recently posted about how I didn't realize you could use all 15 save blocks of a memory card for FF7. I never noticed you could continue scrolling down to access more than the three save slots you initially see on the save game screen.

I'm currently playing FF7 via emulator, mainly pSX (psxfin.exe) on my laptop when I have spare time at work and on the train during my commute.

I'll occasionally use ePSXe (which makes the game look much better) on my desktop at home which has an upgraded video card.

So instead of having 20+ memory card files (I'm using .mcr format so it works on both emulators) I wanted to consolidate by copying the saves to fill up 15 blocks per "card." So I booted up pSX without loading a game so I get to the PlayStation OS.

This screen (just using a random picture from the web):

If I have a memory card in Slot 1 with three saves (blocks 1, 2, and 3) and an empty memory card in Slot 2, I'm able to copy the save files over to the empty card. If I have three saves on each memory card and try to copy saved game blocks from one card to the other, I get the confirmation asking me if I'm sure I want to copy, I select Yes, and nothing happens.

Basically it won't allow me to copy blocks 1, 2, and 3 on one card to blocks 4, 5, and 6 (or whatever the next available blocks are) on the other card.

Anyone familiar with this issue? I've only tried with FF7 saves, I haven't tried with another game, but regardless, that doesn't really help me, I want to copy FF7 saves.

I don't have any experience with trying to copy that way, but there are memory card managers that can make the process easier - I've used this one in years past to do all sorts of things and it seemed to work pretty well.

Awesome... thanks that's perfect!

In searching around I just stumbled upon uLaunchELF which apparently can be used with a PS2 to transfer memory card files between a PC and an actual memory card. It looks like a bit of a process, but I'm sure I'll get to work with some trial and error.

It would be awesome to play my saved game on an actual PS1 or PS2. Currently I have an imitation wireless PS2 dual shock controller that I either use with my desktop, or I connect my laptop to my TV when I'm at home. It works pretty well, but sometimes the responsiveness isn't perfect. The little USB transmitter doesn't seem to broadcast the best signal to the controller.
