I never utilized sabins suplex. most bosses are unaffected by the suplex, it is weak in comparison to aurabolt and pummel, lastly in comparison to the other early game blitzes it is the most complicated to execute.

For some reason, Suplex will only do full damage if there is only one monster left when you use it. I think it has something to do with targetting all enemies (thus doing less damage like with magic, etc) even though it doesn't actually affect all enemies.
Otherwise, Suplex has the highest battle power of Sabin's Blitzes. This post has been edited by Cefca on 30th January 2012 23:26 |

Wow, I didn't know that. I'll have to use suplex next time I play. Usually, I'd use a group attack like fire dance or aura bolt, and occasionally pummel.

Like I said though, it's only really useful when there's just one monster on the field, so reubensmace is right in a way: Suplex probably is pretty useless in most cases.

No. Didn't even know it was possible to do so until it became some sort of internet meme. Always thought or assume that it would miss the train. -------------------- Currently playing Chrono Trigger !! Currently looking forward to Don't Know. |

There is nothing quite as satisfying as suplexing a train.

I didn't use Sabin much but I did use Suplex as his standard Blitz. I found it to be pretty powerful, owing probably to the one enemy on screen thing that I didn't know until now. I read on a FAQ that if there's more than one enemy it does half damage. I didn't know it doesn't work on some bosses either.

Quote (reubensmace @ 30th January 2012 21:03) more power than bum rush? im very curious now Suplex is a physical attack; Bum/Phantom Rush is magic-based and ignores Defense. If Sabin's Magic stat beats out his Strength and/or the enemy has a high Defense, Bum/Phantom Rush will do more damage. -------------------- Thank you for taking the time to read this sign. When using Sabin, I almost exclusively used Aura Bolt for a single-target attack until Bum Rush, and Fire Dance as a multi-target attack until Airblade. I would Suplex the Phantom Train for the hell of it, but always just figured it was weaker than Aura Bolt. The techs where you have to spin the pad rather than enter a combination always seemed to be more powerful, so I just went with that.
Also, you can't really beat the sound effect of Bum Rush. It was super useful, along with Edgar's chainsaw, when you didn't have magic and starting out. And it's nice if you're just leveling to level, since it's 0 MP.
Fire Dance we definitely my go-to Blitz, though. Didn't know Suplex was better 1 on 4 vs. multiple enemies though! -------------------- You're telling me that there's no hope. I'm telling you you're wrong. |

Quote (reubensmace @ 31st January 2012 21:21) ah yes. the only game that you can suplex a train Hell. Yes. SUPLEX. Seriously, though, that's messed. Also riding the 'I didn't know about the half-damage' bandwagon. I think I was definitely part of the bumrush crew, though, but I do recall suplex being really useful and powerful, though... I just can't fully recall, it's been so long since I've been in FFVI... I didn't use Suplex because I found it lacking in damage output compared to Pummel. Probably should have now that I know it actually splits damage for some weird reason.

I had trouble executing Suplex, stupid fat fingers!
Bum Rush was my favourite but Pummel is always powerful against one target. For multiple targets I used Fire Dance and Airblade |

I always seem to use it just once each time I play, but even then it's for looks, because it's actually one of the weaker Blitzes against the train anyways.
