Hello everyone !
I'm at the World Of Ruin in FFVI, and following the awesome Djibriel Faq (http://www.gamefaqs.com/iphone/734974-final-fantasy-vi/faqs/51030) ; But I'm wondering : at the beginning of the chapter "4.55.1 Narshe", Djibriel says : "Note: The story wanted you to go to Maranda and follow the pigeon to Zozo, and I sent you around the world to optimize your equipment, learn Phantom Rush, etcetera and so on. I haven't sent you in any dungeon. However, for various reasons, I believe it's better gameplay-wise to dive into Narshe first and get down in Zozo second. You get Mog and an entirely new (and hidden) character out of it, you get access to level 3 spells, and get a Relic that allows you to circumvent random encounters, giving you access to some items that you weren't supposed to obtain yet, this being the [MOOGLE-RAID]. It's really a sweet deal all in all, but you ignore the story flow here, and miss out on one little detail of the story as well (which I'll give when the time comes, but you won't see it on-screen)." But I can't seem to find in the FAQ what "detail of the story" I will be missing, and it bothers me. Can you help me with this one ?! Thank you very much ! Sorry for my english. |

Well, the best version of Djibriel's FAQ is here: http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff6/walkthrough.php , in which your chapter is located here: http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff6/walkthrou...hp?chapter=2-16
But now that I've read through both versions, I'm not quite sure what he means either. It's been a while since I played FF6, and I don't think I've ever played following his walkthrough word for word, but I can't recall anything you permanently miss in that regard. Interestingly, I don't know of any possible event that I'll miss if I break out the story sequence. The World of Ruin is literally designed to have absolutely NO STORY FLOW after you obtain the Falcon and before you actually give a slap on Kefka's wrist. And to be honest, even if there was, then after you obtain Cyan (which I remember as the reason why the game made a pigeon fly to Zozo), then the game leaves you to explore the world with nothing as to hinting where to go next if Kefka's tower doesn't look attractive to you (hint: it doesn't look attractive).
So yeah, I feel like Djibriel made a mistake here. Correct me if I'm wrong. This post has been edited by Pooka on 4th February 2016 01:15 -------------------- I am Exdeath. Step aside pesky clowns, or your warranty is Void! |

Okay, the trouble I'm having is trying to pinpoint what D's referring to. I'm assuming right now that he's talking about the Moogle-Raiding using the Moogle Charm (going into detail about that in 2.19). So, I'm guessing that he's talking about something that has to do with either Fanatic's Tower or Kefka's Tower. I've been reading ahead so you wouldn't have to, and currently I haven't found anything.
If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it. Like Pooka said, the WoR is designed to be played out of order (which is pretty astounding, I might add, especially for the time, but I digress). There's a "smart" way to do it, but not necessarily a "right" way. I'll keep on looking and keep you posted. But right now, I think you're okay. -------------------- |

Well, looking at BlitzSage's comment and back at Djibriel's point... I think he is indeed talking about Kefka's Tower. Because if I remember, in the game, the more the characters you had on the Falcon, the more the dialogue you got from the characters and the deeper it got. There's a difference between entering the tower with just Celes, Edgar and Setzer, and between entering with all of the characters, or entering with a few of them. That said I didn't try raiding his tower without Terra before, just to see if they'd bring up Terra's potential disappearance or not... good thing I still have a save file with just Celes, Edgar and Setzer.
The thing is, Djibriel makes use of the Moogle Raid to go ahead and obtain stuff like the Fixed Dice from Kefka's Tower without having to worry about random encounters slicing the party's HP and MP levels and whatnot, but the price is, you only see the dialogue between the characters once in a save file, and you see it with the characters you had on board the Falcon. This is where I guess that maybe Djibriel didn't make a mistake and instead he was really warning you of missing story details, but never made it clear what you'd really miss exactly for doing the Moogle Raid. Resulting in this speculation where I actually contradict my own post above (yay!). Hopefully, Djibriel will notice this thread and perhaps make it more clear in his next revisions. I was talking to Dji separately a couple weeks back and I'm not sure that he's completely available to discuss or update his docs at the moment. I can't speak for him, of course, but I wouldn't hold my breath too much.

I believe there is only one event that would be missable in the context that is being examined here, and that's where Celes says:
Quote Celes: What will happen to...Terra? After this, IF and only if Terra has been recruited, the camera will pan over to her, and she will hang her head in worry. But if you have not recruited her, I do not believe this happens. I'm rather perplexed by the whole deal myself...that doesn't seem like a missable story detail. -------------------- X is blue. |

Talking about Terra, has anyone tried to beat the game with as few characters to see what happens?
Moderator Edit Guessing thousands of people have. There are probably some threads about it if you search. -R51 This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 4th February 2016 20:00 -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars. Neil Degrasse Tyson. |

Quote (Magitek_slayer @ 4th February 2016 21:44) Talking about Terra, has anyone tried to beat the game with as few characters to see what happens? Moderator Edit Guessing thousands of people have. There are probably some threads about it if you search. -R51 The least you can go with the characters is doing a CES challenge run, with CES standing for Celes, Edgar, and Setzer. Many people have done it, but I'm not sure who did it here. However, I have a save with the Falcon and only the three of them, I'll make sure to list the dialogue soon. Quote (Spooniest @ 4th February 2016 19:34) I'm rather perplexed by the whole deal myself...that doesn't seem like a missable story detail. With silent storytelling being a thing in the Genesis Sonic games, the same time the SNES and FFVI were relevant, I feel like this might be a missable story detail, if not that important, as this whole hanging her head would tell just how torn she is between saving the world and vanishing or trying to run away from this fate, is what I think, if what you say is right. I got the dialogue for a CES party! (Copied and pasted from the Android version, should be the same as the GBA version) Code (The ship ascends from the tower in the world map, and is cut to a Falcon with Setzer looking towards the screen) All right. We're going in! (The ship descends again. After a black screen, Setzer, Celes and Edgar are shown, Setzer holding the steering wheel, Edgar looking towards the screen and waving, and Celes behind Edgar.) Edgar: It's time we took the battle to Kefka's doorstep! (Celes looks below the deck, followed by Setzer looking to his left) Setzer: What's wrong? Celes: ... Celes: The gods of the Warring Triad control the magic of the esper world... If we destroy them... (Edgar walks to her direction) Edgar: ...You're worried about what might happen? (Celes looks down) Celes: I'm not sure, but... ...espers and magic might vanish from the world entirely. (Edgar looks left and blinks) Edgar: And if that happens... Celes: ...what'll happen to Terra? (Party selection screen time!) The worst thing about this is, I can't get into one section of Kefka's tower with a three-man party. NO, I have to separate the three members into three parties. Game programming at its best. This post has been edited by Pooka on 4th February 2016 20:55 -------------------- I am Exdeath. Step aside pesky clowns, or your warranty is Void! |

Thank you very much for all of your answers.

After this, IF and only if Terra has been recruited, the camera will pan over to her, and she will hang her head in worry. I think it might be the answer we are looking for. It makes much sense... Note that I forwarded this thread to Djibriel at gmail dot com, so I think we will receive a definitive answer very soon |

Yes, that's it! Having Terra on board for the choice to continue makes for a small but powerful extra scene.
I've gotten quite a few e-mails about that line in the past and it really needs to go. It clearly implies much more than it's meant to. This post has been edited by Djibriel on 28th February 2016 08:13 -------------------- |
