Good news this is not a fan made patch and its auto updated.
Sadly, no one has put any news in regards to this because this makes the Steam Version the definite version with gamepad support and being able to stream your game to your TV. -------------------- His Divine Shadow |

It actually happened a few months ago but it's still good news. Shame they haven't done it with VIII though.

Quote (Cefca @ 31st August 2014 16:34) It actually happened a few months ago but it's still good news. Shame they haven't done it with VIII though. I am shocked though they didn't make this news. People were getting banned left and right for just asking or posting mods for the music. I figured Steam had it with losing customers and demanded Square make a fix. I wonder if the CoN news team will get in touch with Steam and see what happened or if FFVIII will be getting the patch as well soon? I'm not sure people were getting banned for it. VIII still hasn't been updated and there's a 900 post thread on its forum on how to fix the music.

Well, at the very least, a huge FFVII Steam forum thread whose OP served as a guide for replacing the MIDI soundtrack with the PS1 soundtrack got zapped, and it was almost certainly not because of drama in the thread.
I wouldn't be surprised if people got banned for it. It technically would be against the Steam forum rules to post a link to the PS1 music, and this and other posts about the topic did frequently essentially contain just that. That said, I guess this is good news. Though now I'm wondering if there's a way to switch back to MIDI on demand, since there's at least one track that I think sounds better in MIDI than in PS1 form (specifically, "Underneath the Rotting Pizza").
