Glenn Magus Harvey So are these painted wooden cubes?

They look great!

Blazenhozen Yeah, I just buy 5/8th's of an inch wooden cubes (usually they are balsam or fir) and then I paint them the color they should be. I have about 500 different paints, so I rarely have to mix paint to get them the right color, and then I use wood glue on all four sides of a black and glue them together.

Some of the colors like yellow's and blue's require about 4-6 coats per block to get the wood grain out of the block.

But yeah, this is the finished product.

RelmArrowney I love these, Blazen! I like the Links in there, too, hahaha . How are they standing up, btw? It seems like they'd have something behind them to help support.

Additionally, you mentioned you used 5-6 coats on some colors; have you ever tried doing a basic primer, like white, then adding the color? It seems like that could effectively take out the wood grain and save on paint in the end.
